Abstract
The mangrove is an ecosystem of vital importance for many species of fauna and flora, being considered a natural nursery for a diversity of animals, in addition to offering essential ecosystem services, such as protection of beaches and forests, and prevention of floods in urban areas. Unfortunately, due to human actions, especially the occupation of irregular housing in many municipalities around the world, mainly in underdeveloped countries, such as Brazil, this important ecosystem has been suffering from its decline resulting from deforestation, as well as soil and water contamination, caused by the transport of urban and domestic waste, contributing greatly and, often, in a deleterious manner, to several endemic mangrove species. This bibliographic review aimed to carry out a bibliographic review on the negative impacts on mangroves resulting from irregular occupations, as well as the pollution and contamination of rivers that flow into mangroves. Some studies were then verified that demonstrate the constant degradation of mangroves resulting from human activities throughout the world.
