Abstract

The issue of unbridled urban growth, with invasions of irregular housing and the lack of basic sanitation, has caused an enormous environmental impact to the rivers that flow through cities, which receive all kinds of solid waste arising from the inadequate disposal of rubble and garbage, in addition to the sewage load received from these dwellings. This study addresses the problem of water pollution caused by human activities in communities with economic and social vulnerability, thus aiming to report, through photographic records, the water pollution caused by the inadequate disposal of urban waste along the Agari River - Guarujá /SP. This situation was evidenced in this study, being able to observe the worrying and current situation of an important river for the region called and deservedly considered Pearl of the Atlantic.
