Abstract
Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of morbidity and mortality in the human population. The study was carried out with 2,457 adults who were seen in different cardiology offices and seeks to present the association of previous cardiovascular events with the prevalence of risk factors, in patients selected according to sex and age groups. The results demonstrate the “real world” panorama in cardiology clinical offices, where the prevalence of traditional RF is high and is strongly associated with the expression of CVD, especially with the occurrence of MI. Patients exposed to arterial hypertension, dyslipidemia and DM2 experienced a greater chance of MI, approximately 4 to 5 times more likely, compared to those not exposed. Strict control of RF is the milestone of good clinical practice in cardiology.
