Preliminary observations of the feeding habits of Poecilia vivipara of the Drainage Channel 1 in Santos, SP Nelson Roberto Bento

Abstract
The main purpose of the construction of canals in Santos is leading the rainwater
to the sea. The climate of Santos is different from the rest of the state of São Paulo, with thermal fluctuations reasonable rainfall averages over 2000 mm/year and good ventilation. The ratification of the river of the soldiers (currently channel 1) shows the presence of a species of fish that lives from the region very close to the sea in a brackish water environment. The species of viviparous Poecilia family were introduced in warm areas to control insect populations. Collections were made on channel 1 when the 9 h with a network of nylon built especially for the collection. At the end of the collection done in 5 seasons were caught 75 fish. Taken to the laboratory they were dissected and removed the stomach contents to search its contents. After the analysis found only algae and diatoms of different species is not found any insect larva.
