Abstract

The Unisanta BioScience Journal launches in its Vol. 3, No. 5 (2014), a Special Edition on Teaching Methodology in Field Ecology, with guest editor Prof. Dr. Walter Barrella. Professor Barrella, as the students affectionately call him, has extensive experience in Higher Education, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Thus, he became an idealist for improving practices for teaching ecology. This special edition has the collaboration of a select group of postgraduate students and professors, who planned and implemented in practice Ecology teaching activities for Higher Education. As we know, Ecology has a very interdisciplinary approach. This “horizontal” characteristic of science can be perceived by the reader in this Special Edition, whose scientific articles are aimed at different audiences who teach ecology, as well as those who develop sustainability practices in different Higher Education courses (Biology, Oceanography, Architecture, Engineering , Geography, Environmental Management, Environmental Law, among others) This is rich material reporting field experiences, which Professor Barrella encourages readers to replicate in their teaching activities with their students.
