Production of litterfall in a grove of mangrove in São Sebastião – (SP): preliminary assessment Rubia Grazielle Valadares, Matheus Mano Clara, João Marcos Miragaia Schmiegelow

Abstract

This paper objective to quantify the space-temporal production of litterfall and relates it to the level of flooding in a grove of mangrove in the city of São Sebastião, northern coast of São Paulo state. For this, 12 monthly collections relating to litter production, six of which have already been performed will be made. The annual estimate showed that the average litterfall production was equal to 599,66 g/m²/year, the highest production occurred in the warmer months and the relationship between production and level of flooding was not confirmed.
