Abstract

The Herbarium Vale do São Francisco (HVASF), with 23,330 samples, has important material collected in the phytogeographic domain of the Caatinga, being one of the depositories of the São Francisco Integration Project (PISF). The collection has 100% of its data computerized and available for online consultation, directly contributing to the academic training of courses at the Federal University of Vale do São Francisco (UNIVASF), awakening not only interest in plant taxonomy, but also raising awareness about environmental conservation environment, through its university extension activities, technical visits and lectures. During the period from 2015 to 2017, 11 activities took place with various institutions across Brazil, making HVASF an important pillar for Conservation Biology in the ecosystems in which it operates.
