SYNTHESIS OF BIODIESEL FROM BEEF TALLOW VIA ETHANOLIC ROUTE USING EGG SHELL-DERIVED CATALYST
Main Article Content
Abstract
With an ever increasing worry in relation to renewable fuels, biodiesel stays in evidence in Brazil’s options due to its abundance in resources. This study had as objective the synthesis of biodiesel from the esterification of beef tallow and ethanol, using 1:12 of molar proportions of alcohol and 2,5% of CaO, catalyst made of eggshells. Although the synthesis using only ethanol has not shown to be a viable option, the mixture of methanol and ethanol is an alternative for an entirely renewable fuel.
