Abstract

The discovery of the pre-salt reserves boosted brazil’s economy, leading to the exploration of oil in ultra-deep waters. This work presents the development of a machining device designed to optimize the manufacturing of carbon steel pipes by eliminating excess material at the weld root. this common issue in the industry leads to rework, increasing time and costs. the device provides precise finishing, tested on a joint that failed ultrasonic inspection. metallographic and hardness tests were conducted to analyze the microstructure before and after grinding. the solution reduces production time and ensures the final product’s quality.
