FRAGILITY AND MORTALITY IN ELDERLY PEOPLE ASSISTED BY PRIMARY HEALTHCARE UNITS: A PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS OF A PROSPECTIVE STUDY
Main Article Content
Abstract
The study aimed to analyze the impact of Frailty Syndrome (FS) on the survival of elderly people. Data from 45 elderly people assisted by the Basic Health Unit (UBS) of Santos/SP, participants in an ongoing longitudinal and prospective study, were analyzed. In addition to the ‘Edmonton Frail Scale’ (EFS) carried out in 2014/2015, information on death and survival as evolution, collected in 2023/2024, was used. The Kaplan Meier curve showed that the ‘Non-frail’, ‘Vulnerable’ and ‘Fragile’ groups were not different (p=0.087) in terms of participant survival over the nine years of study, especially because ‘Vulnerable’ and ‘Fragile’ people have similar values of accumulated mortality.
