PREVALENCE OF RESPIRATORY COMPLICATIONS IN PATIENTS WITH CEREBRAL PALSY

Abstract
The study aimed to verify the prevalence of respiratory complications in patients with cerebral palsy (CP). For this purpose, a descriptive, observational, cross-sectional study was carried out involving 10 patients with CP. The research was carried out in person through interviews with those responsible. As a result, it was observed that 60% (n=6) have respiratory diseases, 50% (n=5) frequent secretions, 50% (n=5) change in breathing pattern during sleep, 40% (n=4) have already been diagnosed with pneumonia and 40% (n=4) undergo respiratory physiotherapy. Therefore, it is concluded that respiratory diseases are present in the majority of the studied population and half of them present respiratory complications.
