THE IMPORTANCE OF VACCINATION AGAINST SARS-COV-2 AND ITS VARIANTS IN THE BRAZILIAN SCENARIO

Abstract

The pandemic brought multiples challenges in the brazilian population, including the lack of adherence to the SARS-COV-2 vaccination. Aims to highlight the importance of the vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 and its variants in the brazilian scenario. It is a literature review conducted using the following databases: PubMed, SciELO, Google Scholar, government website and books, covering the period between 2020 to 2024. Currently in Brazil, the authorized vaccines includes Comirnaty, Zalika, Spikevax, Janssen and Fiocruz. This study demonstrated the effectiveness of the vaccines in reducing the severe cases of COVID-19, the hospitalization and the mortality rate, however it also highlighted the lack of adherence to the booster doses, which are crucial for the protection against new variants.
