TOPICAL USE OF PROPOLIS AS A HEALING AGENT FOR SKIN LESIONS IN DIABETIC FOOT

Abstract

Propolis is a chemically complex mixture that has pharmacological activities, arousing interest in its use in the healing of chronic ulcers. Objective: The study aims to conduct a literature review on the topical use of propolis, analyzing its efficacy as an adjunct medication for therapies in diabetic foot skin ulcers. This is a narrative literature review based on electronic articles and books associated with the subject.  Studies have observed the efficacy of the topical use of propolis in chronic lesions, analyzing its pharmacological activities during the wound healing process. The topical use of propolis has become an effective therapy as an adjunct in the healing of diabetic ulcers.
