GUIDE FOR STANDARDIZATION OF MULTIDOSE MEDICATION STABILITY AFTER OPENING
Main Article Content
Abstract
The use of medications in multidose containers is common in hospitals, and after opening, these containers will have a new expiration date. The objective of this study was to develop a Guide to the validity of multidose medications after opening in a hospital located in the city of Santos/SP. The medications classified as multidose were extracted from the computerized system used in the hospital. A total of 101 medications classified as multidose were found (18.98% of the 532 medications). One of the challenges was finding information on the stability of the drugs, with 73.12% of the medications having no information about them in the literature. Understanding how they should be stored and what their expiration date is after opening is important to ensure the quality and safety in the use of these medications.
