STUDY OF DRUG INTERCHANGEABILITY IN BRAZIL: DOSING OF INTERCHANGEABLE GENERIC AND SIMILAR CAPTOPRIL MEDICATIONS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Given the availability of generic and similar drugs in the national market, the objective of this study is to evaluate drug interchangeability in Brazil. To this end, a brief analysis and discussion of the legal aspects surrounding this topic is necessary. The captopril content in a generic drug and an interchangeable similar drug was analyzed using the assay method recommended by the Brazilian Pharmacopoeia, and both drugs met the standards established by the Pharmacopoeia. The rules imposed on interchangeability directly affect the cost of drugs for patients, and the lack of clarity regarding interchangeability can lead to misinformation, compromising treatment adherence and the safe use of medications.
