REVIEW ON THE USE OF BIOMARKERS AND ENVIRONMENTAL BIOINDICATORS IN THE STATE OF SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL
Main Article Content
Abstract
In order to monitor pollution in the aquatic, terrestrial and atmospheric environments, bioindicators and biomarkers are used. This study aimed to synthesize the bioindicators and biomarkers used in the last decade (2014-2024) in the state of São Paulo, using the digital platforms SciELO, Pubmed and Periódicos CAPES, indicating the organisms and methodologies and relating them to pollutants or environmental impacts. There was more research in aquatic environments, identifying a wide variety of taxa used, and the main threats reported were eutrophication, urbanization, pesticides and microplastics, and legislation was debated in the face of new studies. It is proposed to carry out a greater scope of research and case studies in areas little or not explored.
