PRELIMINARY SURVEY OF THE AVIFAUNA IN THE RIO DO PEIXE, GUARUJÁ - SP

Abstract

The present study aimed to identify the aquatic birdlife occurring in the section of Barra do Rio do Peixe (Guarujá-SP). Additionally, it sought to relate species richness, occurrence frequency, and relative abundance to environmental factors and their variations throughout the seasons. During the period from March to September 2024, birds present in the Rio do Peixe were recorded using a camera, through direct observation, and later identified using identification guides. A total of 13 bird species were recorded in the Rio do Peixe. Of these, 10 species were observed in Area 1, the river mouth, and 8 species were observed in Area 2, the middle section. These species belong to 7 orders and 8 families.
