DEVELOPMENT OF A METHOD TO DETERMINE CARBOHYDRATES IN FITNESS PRODUCTS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Humans, in their daily food intake, basically feed on proteins, fats, carbohydrates and mineral salts, which help the body to perform its different activities efficiently. To do so, the component molecules of the aforementioned materials are broken down and, through chemical and biochemical reactions, energy is produced at the cellular and/or organic level. UV-VIS spectrophotometry was used to develop a method for detecting and determining carbohydrates in fitness foods. The complexation reaction of carbohydrates with different chromogenic reagents was studied in order to develop a way to assess their presence.
