GLYCEMIC CHANGES IN A HYPERTENSIVE PATIENT USING BETA-BLOCKERS – CASE REPORT
Main Article Content
Abstract
Clinical and epidemiological evidence points to a relationship between arterial hypertension and type II diabetes mellitus. The objective of this study was to perform pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and, if necessary, pharmaceutical intervention in a hypertensive patient. This is a descriptive and qualitative study. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee. During the case study, the hypothesis was raised about a possible relationship between carvedilol (beta-blocker) and glycemic alteration, causing masking by its hypoglycemic effect. A letter was sent to the physician responsible for the patient reporting the case. Awaiting response. Pharmaceutical interventions can help identify potential problems related to pharmacotherapy, reinforcing the importance of pharmaceutical assistance.
