RICHNESS AND DISTRIBUTION OF AQUATIC BIRDS IN AN URBAN PARK IN SANTOS, SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL

Abstract
The Orquidário de Santos offers benefits to a significant biodiversity of fauna and flora, serving as the setting for this exploratory research that sought to understand the environmental importance for visitant water birds preservation. Therefore, the observation method and data collection table was used as a tool to identify the species sighted, use the environment and location of the sighting. There were a total of 354 observations of 20 minutes each, carried out over a period of 15 months. As a result, it was possible to analyze 9 different species of birds, predominantly present in the artificial lake of Orquidário de Santos, thereby demonstrating its relevance as an urban park.
