Abstract

Nickel is a heavy metal that can cause lung cancer, nasal cavity cancer, and paranasal sinus cancer in humans. For this reason, methods that allow its detection and quantification are essential. The objective of this work is to determine nickel complexed with dimethylglyoxime using titration with dimethylformamide in water. To develop the methodology, tests were carried out with known values of complexed nickel, using volumes of dimethylformamide in a titration process. It was found that for nickel concentration values between 0.001 and 0.010 mol/L, the obtained calibration curve is VolDMF = 9311,1[Ni] + 9,902. Therefore, the method will be used to determine nickel in watercourses and wastewater.
