BREAST CANCER DIAGNOSIS THROUGH THE USE OF DIGITAL BREAST TOMOSYNTHESIS: A LITERATURE REVIEW
Main Article Content
Abstract
Breast cancer, the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women, relies on early detection for successful treatment. Digital breast tomosynthesis, an advancement in mammography, allows for the visualization of different breast angles, improving cancer detection rates and reducing false positives. Despite its effectiveness, access remains limited. This study aims to compare mammography with tomosynthesis, highlighting its advantages and disadvantages. A literature review, based on SCIELO, PUBMED/MEDLINE, and Google Scholar, confirms tomosynthesis' superiority, particularly in women with dense breasts.
Keywords: Breast neoplasms; early detection of breast cancer; mammography; digital breast tomosynthesis .
