DYSLIPIDEMIA IN PATIENTS DIAGNOSED WITH POST-COVID-19
Main Article Content
Abstract
– COVID-19 is a disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and once initially considered an acute respiratory infection, it is now recognized as a multi-system infection, including lipid metabolism, leading to conditions such as hypocholesterolemia. However, dyslipidemia has also been observed during the post-acute phase of infection. The aim of this study is to investigate the pathophysiology of post-acute COVID-19 infection and examine lipid profile markers. Total cholesterol (TC), HDL, and LDL levels were analyzed in individuals with a history of COVID-19. The results suggest a link between viral persistence and hypercholesterolemia. Consequently, monitoring TC, LDL, and HDL levels through laboratory tests may offer a way to track post-COVID conditions.
