Abstract

Animals are treated as objects to satisfy human needs and, despite regulations that aim to minimize suffering during slaughter, enforcement of these standards often fails. This study aimed to expose the standards that regulate or slaughter animals, to promote reflection on moral, legal and animal welfare issues. The research was conducted on digital platforms such as Scielo, using keywords related to the topic, and Brazilian legislation and requirements were consulted. The study reveals a disconnect between Brazilian legislation and concepts of animal rights, highlighting the need to improve regulations and oversight to ensure humane reduction practices.
