Abstract

Some people with intellectual disabilities need a different approach to learn to read and write, thus requiring support from schools, parents, and teachers so that they can develop the skills necessary to learn to read and write. During my internship at some schools, I came across teachers who ignored students with disabilities, not complying with what the law prescribes. As a future teacher and currently working as a mediator, I am concerned with offering adequate support to all students. Therefore, I understand the need to better understand the processes related to inclusion. This work addresses the literacy and literacy of students with intellectual disabilities, seeking to identify what challenges and difficulties researchers report in this regard and how they carry out the literacy and literacy of ID students. This research is a bibliographic review based on works that have been published about the literacy and literacy process of intellectually disabled people, such as Alcântara's dissertation (2022) and some articles that address the issue.
