Abstract

To feed more than 8 billion people, it is necessary to occupy 1.87 billion hectares of land for planting (NASA, 2017). Furthermore, recurring climate catastrophes and water resources crises show that there is a growing urgency to change the current cultivation model. In response to problems that have been occurring for years, the Vertical Farm concept was devised. Created by Dickson Despommier in the late nineties, the project comes as a response to a new sustainable model that is ideal for the current situation on the planet.  The following project proposal uses this concept to propose an efficient module that can serve dense areas and offer better quality food for local populations.
