Abstract
This work presents a proposal to create a memorial honoring José Bonifácio de Andrada, the patron of Brazilian Independence, located in Arcos do Valongo. The innovative architectural design features a three-story building resembling the volume of books, symbolizing knowledge and emphasizing its importance in educational formation and national identity. The project not only celebrates Bonifácio's significance in history but also aims to preserve the region's cultural memory. It seeks to unite the community through activities that foster reflection and learning, connected to the historical context of the site and the concept of an "open book." This work intends to explore the architectural, historical, and social implications of the project, highlighting its contribution to local Brazilian culture and tourism.
