Abstract

Hypertension is one of the leading noncommunicable diseases, with a high mortality rate. Physical exercise is widely used as a nonpharmacological treatment, bringing benefits to health and blood pressure. This project evaluated the acute and chronic effects of bodyweight training (BWT) on blood pressure and serum metabolic parameters in hypertensive adults, comparing them with the literature using the PICO method. Laboratory tests with the participants showed: three participants with altered blood glucose, two with high total cholesterol, one with high triglycerides, three with low HDL-c, and three with high LDL-c.
