It is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality, with increasing prevalence among the elderly. This study analyzes updates to clinical guidelines for the management of HF, with an emphasis on pharmacological recommendations. The methodology used was the Brazilian guidelines from 1993 to 2022, and the latest American guideline was used for comparison. According to the 2021 Brazilian Guideline, ACE inhibitors, digitalis, aldosterone antagonists, beta-blockers, angiotensin II antagonists, calcium antagonists, antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants, diuretics, hydralazine, and ivabradine are indicated for the treatment of HF
