IN SILICO EVALUATION OF THE ECOTOXICITY OF ANTIPSYCHOTICS AND THEIR METABOLITES
Main Article Content
Abstract
The presence of drugs in the environment, such as antipsychotics, is a concern due to their improper use, excretion, and disposal. These compounds can persist and affect aquatic organisms. This study evaluated the ecotoxicity (acute and chronic toxicity) of eight antipsychotic drugs and their respective metabolites using the ECOSAR v1.11 program. The results revealed significant toxicity for all drugs analyzed. Regarding the metabolites, it was observed that, despite being products generated from human metabolism, some of the metabolites studied produced worrying results. It is concluded that ecotoxicological analyses of antipsychotic drugs should include metabolites, since metabolites that maintained their toxic potential were observed
