PREVALENCE OF MUSCULOSKELETAL INJURIES IN FEMALE ATHLETES IN OLYMPIC WRESTLING: PRACTITIONERS' PERSPECTIVES

Abstract
The present study aimed to identify the prevalence of musculoskeletal injuries in Brazilian senior female freestyle wrestling athletes over the past 12 months and to describe the injury profile. This is a descriptive, observational, cross-sectional study with 19 athletes who completed an online questionnaire. Of the participants, 78.95% reported at least one injury, with the knee being the most affected region (53.36%), followed by the shoulder (20%). Ligament injuries were the most prevalent (33.33%), and most were considered severe. Physiotherapy was the most sought treatment, and training overload was the main risk factor. It was concluded that there was a high prevalence of injuries, highlighting the importance of prevention and physiotherapeutic follow-up
