EFFICIENCY OF USING A CERVICAL COLLAR IN PATIENTS VICTIMS OF POLYTRAUMA IN PRE-HOSPITAL CARE: NARRATIVE LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract
One of the most used ways of assistance in the prehospital care is the use of cervical collar. The objective of this review is to identify the efficience of the cervical collar in patients victim of polytraumatic accidents, especially in the prehospital care. For this review, was selected articles from the PUBMED and SCIELO database, with and temporal cut of 15 years, aligned to the proposed objective. There are no clear evidences in favor or against the immobilization, but, it’s important to accept that the cervical collar use is associated to disadvantages, as the jugular veins compression. Was concluded that is necessary a review of the protocols that have relation with the cervical collar, so as to improve its efficacy
