Abstract

The present study aimed to identify cognitive decline and its relationship with educational level, motor signs, and activities of daily living (ADL) in individuals with Primary Parkinsonism. This is an analytical, observational, cross-sectional study involving 12 participants treated at the UNISANTA Physical Therapy Clinic. The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) part 3, the Hoehn and Yahr Scale, and the Parkinson Activity Scale (PAS) were used. The sample consisted mainly of elderly male participants, married, and using Prolopa. The results showed no significant correlation between cognitive function and ADL performance; however, they highlight the importance of integrated assessment of these aspects and the need for further studies with larger samples and longitudinal design
