Main Article Content
Abstract
This work is a narrative review that delves into Burnout Syndrome among the nursing team, addressing the causes and consequences during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study aimed to understand the impacts of work on the mental health of these professionals, identify risk factors for burnout and examine the coping strategies adopted. The methodology was based on the analysis of 14 Brazilian articles, selected through databases such as SciELO and BV Salud. The results revealed that the pandemic intensified the incidence of the syndrome, driven by long work shifts, multiple jobs, lack of resources and the historical devaluation of nursing. The consequences go beyond the professional, affecting the quality of care and generating a cycle of overload and suffering. In conclusion, the article highlights the urgency of policies to protect the mental health of these workers, suggesting the redefinition of working conditions, continuous psychosocial support, salary enhancement and the creation of more welcoming environments. The research reinforces the need for new studies to deepen the understanding of risk factors, which can guide more effective public policies and management practices
