PRESENCE OF PHENOLIC COMPOUNDS AND ALKALOIDS IN THE LEAVES OF BRILLANTAISIA LAMIUM BENTH
Main Article Content
Abstract
Historically, phytotherapy has been an important tool for therapeutic discovery. This study investigated the presence of alkaloids and phenolic compounds in the leaves of the Brillantaisia Lamium Benth species, aiming to determine the potential antimicrobial therapeutic potential of this species. To this end, leaves from each plant were collected, dried, crushed, and extracted with absolute ethanol. Phytochemical analyses were performed using the Dragendorff method and thin-layer chromatography. The results revealed the presence of alkaloids and phenolic compounds as chemical markers, thus demonstrating the potential therapeutic potential of the leaves of this species
