Abstract
The present project aims to understand the daily challenges faced by incarcerated women and the factors that led them to this situation. Due to the nature of this study, a qualitative research was chosen, with an exploratory and comprehensive approach to the phenomenon studied, seeking to grasp the characteristics of a particular social group or phenomenon, as well as to understand their opinions, beliefs, and attitudes (Gil, 1995). Thus, the qualitative approach is justified to meet the objectives of the research that will be conducted at the 2nd Police Station of São Vicente, with five inmates through semi-structured interviews. The results was be analyzed in light of the theoretical framework used and the proposed objectives
