ANALYSIS OF BCG VACCINATION COVERAGE IN THE METROPOLITAN REGION OF BAIXADA SANTISTA BETWEEN 2016 AND 2023

Abstract

The study analyzed BCG vaccination coverage in the Metropolitan Region of Baixada Santista between 2016 and 2023, aiming to assess its temporal and spatial dynamics and compare municipalities. This was a mixed ecological study using secondary data from SI-PNI, SINASC and DATASUS, analyzed through descriptive statistics, association tests and georeferencing. Results showed significant fluctuations, sharp decline during the COVID-19 pandemic, territorial inequalities and inconsistencies in information systems. It is concluded that vaccination coverage is unstable and heterogeneous, requiring strengthening of primary care, standardization of records and strategies to ensure equity in child immunization
