FLORISTIC RECORD OF BRYOPHYTES ON URBAN PHOROPHYTES IN THE INSULAR AREA OF SÃO VICENTE, SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL
Main Article Content
Abstract
Bryophytes are widely distributed, colonizing phorophytes in modified environments such as urban beaches. The Itararé and Gonzaguinha beaches, in São Vicente (São Paulo), have vegetation restricted to gardens with trees and palms. This study inventoried corticolous species, expanding knowledge of their occurrence. A total of 22 species, 16 genera, and 11 families were recorded. Gonzaguinha had 18 species, and Itararé 12. Lejeuneaceae was the most representative family among liverworts, but the most frequent species were Frullania kunzei (Lehm. & Lindenb.) Lehm. & Lindenb. and F. ericoides (Nees) Mont. (Frullaniaceae). Among mosses, Meiothecium boryanum (Müll. Hal.) Mitt. (Sematophyllaceae) predominated. The results emphasize the importance of bryophyte studies in coastal environments
