IMPORTANCE OF NURSING IN TUBERCULOSIS CARE IN VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES IN THE CITY OF SANTOS

Abstract
Tuberculosis remains a serious public health problem, with a high incidence in the municipality, especially in regions marked by social inequalities. This study, based on a narrative literature review, used the PubMed/MEDLINE, SciELO, and Web of Science databases to select publications between 2000 and 2025. It analyzes the importance of nursing performance in the prevention and control of tuberculosis in vulnerable communities in Santos-SP. The results show that the nurse's role is multifaceted and essential, encompassing health education, Directly Observed Treatment (DOT), active case finding, and building a bond with the patient to ensure adherence to the prolonged treatment. Strategies such as continuing education, the use of technologies, and the strengthening of public policies are fundamental to optimizing care and reducing the disease rates in the region
