ONE HEALTH AND EVIDENCE OF THE INTERCONNECTION BETWEEN ANIMAL, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND HUMAN HEALTH

Abstract
One Health integrates three pillars (human, animal, and environmental health) and is relevant in light of global threats to collective health, intensified by anthropogenic factors. This study aimed to assess how the One Health perspective highlights the interdependence of these pillars and to identify challenges to its implementation, considering political, institutional, and social factors. A literature review was conducted, based on scientific articles, international guidelines, and official documents. Findings show that despite broad recognition of the concept, barriers persist, such as sectoral fragmentation and lack of integrated policies. Joint strategies and comprehensive policies are essential to sustainably promote, prevent, and control health in an integrated manner
