PREVENTION OF PRESSURE INJURIES IN BEDDED PATIENTS: ANALYSIS OF EVIDENCE-BASED CARE PRACTICES AND TECHNOLOGIES
Main Article Content
Abstract
Pressure injuries (PUs) represent a frequent and high-impact problem in care delivery, primarily affecting bedridden patients or those with reduced mobility. This study aimed to analyze evidence-based PU prevention strategies, identify effective practices, and discuss nursing interventions that minimize their occurrence. To this end, an integrative review of national and international literature was conducted, including studies on repositioning techniques, use of pressure-relieving surfaces, skin care, caregiver education, and institutional protocols. The results demonstrate that preventive interventions, when applied correctly and systematically, significantly reduce the incidence of PUs, improve patient safety, and promote a better quality of life. Furthermore, training the nursing staff and family members proved essential to the effectiveness of preventive measures. It is concluded that the implementation of prevention protocols and continuous monitoring are essential to reduce PUs in bedridden patients, contributing to the humanization and efficiency of overall care
