KETOGENIC DIET AND NUTRITIONAL INTERVENTIONS IN PATIENTS WITH LIPEDEMA: A LITERATURE REVIEW
Main Article Content
Abstract
Lipedema is a chronic condition characterized by the symmetrical accumulation of adipose tissue and pain, predominantly affecting women. This study aimed to systematically review recent literature on the role of nutrition in lipedema management, focusing on ketogenic and low-carbohydrate dietary interventions. Articles published between 2022 and 2025 were retrieved from PubMed, Web of Science, and CAPES databases. Results indicate improvements in body composition, pain reduction, and modulation of inflammatory markers. However, most studies present methodological limitations, including small sample sizes and short follow-up periods, which limit the generalization of findings. It is concluded that these dietary strategies show promising therapeutic potential, but larger and longer clinical trials are required to confirm their efficacy
