RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ANXIETY AND BINGE EATING IN YOUNG PEOPLE AND ADULTS: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Abstract
Anxiety and binge eating are frequently associated phenomena, especially among young adults. This integrative review analyzed studies published between 2017 and 2024 in the SciELO and Google Scholar databases, addressing the relationship between anxiety symptoms and binge eating episodes. Twenty studies were included, showing a significant correlation between high anxiety levels, academic stress, insomnia, and binge eating. Cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based interventions were effective in reducing symptoms. Anxiety plays a key role in the development and maintenance of binge eating, emphasizing the need for multidisciplinary interventions
