THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON PEOPLE WITH DOWN SYNDROME: A NARRATIVE LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract
The COVID-19, caused by SARS-CoV-2, has posed a global challenge and highlighted vulnerabilities in individuals with Down Syndrome (DS). This study aimed to analyze the impact of the disease on this group through a narrative literature review. PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO, and LILACS were searched between February and November 2025. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 17 articles were selected. Results show higher susceptibility to comorbidities, respiratory complications, and mortality. It is concluded that DS is a significant risk factor, emphasizing the importance of vaccination and specific protective strategies
