USE OF PLANT EXTRACTS WITH MEDICINAL POTENTIAL IN THE CONTROL OF PROTOZOANS IN THE SEDIMENTS OF CHANNEL 5 IN SANTOS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Currently, the Santos Canals are vectors for diseases, including protozoan. Therefore, using natural methods, the effects of mint (Mentha spicata), parsley (Petroselinum crispum), and garlic (Allium sativum) extracts on ciliates and flagellates are investigated, aiming to create a way to maintain urban cleanliness. The methodology used maceration, filtration, and solvent evaporation to produce the extracts. The samples were then taken for in vivo observation tests, using a dosage of three drops of the sample to two drops of extract. As a result, mint leaves them in the cystic phase, and parsley causes possible cell death in specimens of the Rotifera phylum. Garlic proved ineffective
