DEVELOPMENT OF A MONOMER IN THE FORM OF A MOLECULAR ADDITION OF METFORMIN WITH BENZOFUROXAN, A NITRIC OXIDE DONOR
Main Article Content
Abstract
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is mainly characterized by hyperglycemia. The WHO has defined metformin hydrochloride as an essential medicine due to its antidiabetic action. Patients with DM have angiopathies and neuropathies, which cause chronic UPD injury due to low concentrations of nitric oxide (NO), a neurotransmitter found in low concentrations in diabetic patients. To remedy tissue damage, the creation of a molecular addition between metformin and benzofuroxan (NO donor) with a monomeric composition is being proposed as a way to mitigate the damage caused by low nitric oxide concentration
