POLICE VIOLENCE AND ART: PATHS OF RESISTANCE AND TRANSFORMATION IN THE FIGHT AGAINST SYSTEMIC VIOLENCE

Abstract
The 2024 analysis of Baixada Santista revealed a significant increase in violence and growing complexity in police operations. During "OperaçãoEscudo," violent crimes increased. Armed confrontations occurred in neighborhoods such as Morro da Nova Cintra and Paquetá, and incidents in which police fired 188 shots at suspects. "Operação Verão" resulted in casualties, with suspects and police officers shot and/or killed. These actions, combined with a lack of clear information, have generated insecurity and uncertainty in society. The research aims to show how art, in an environment rife with violence, can be a way out of this cycle, which is all too common in Brazil.
