THE STEREOTYPE OF THE QUEER IMAGINARY: A COMMUNICATIONAL ANALYSIS OF HEARTSTOPPER
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study analyzes queer representation in narrative media, focusing on the transmedia production Heartstopper, by Alice Oseman. The research investigates how communication influences the perception of the LGBTI+ community and in what ways the work challenges heteronormative stereotypes. The methodology includes bibliographic and thematic analysis on queer communication, as well as audience reception. The results show that Heartstopper expands representation but also reproduces normativities within the community. It is concluded that the work contributes to the normalization of queer relationships and the deconstruction of stereotypes, fostering a more inclusive dialogue about identity and diversity
