Abstract

The increase in life expectancy and the reversal of the age pyramid pose new challenges to how society houses and cares for the elderly population. This work proposes a housing model for independent older adults or those with low dependence, prioritizing autonomy, active aging, and connection with the city. Located in Praia Grande (SP), the project is grounded on demographic data, field visits, and national and international references, resulting in a proposal that integrates housing, social spaces, therapeutic areas, and sensory environments in dialogue with the urban context. More than meeting regulations, it aims to offer an alternative to the traditional institutional model, promoting well-being, belonging, and social participation. The methodology combined theoretical research, case studies, and a critical reading of the territory to support design decisions directed towards creating a humanized and stimulating environment capable of redefining the aging experience in the city
