MODULAR ARCHITECTURE: SOCIAL HOUSING IN CONTAINERS
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research covers the evolution of modular architecture and how it has occupied space in the field of social housing. The modular model presents significant advantages for both society and the construction sector, such as speed of execution, reduction of waste and flexibility in use. In view of this, the study proposes the creation of an innovative project that enables the application of containers as a solution for affordable housing. The methodology adopted is based on a bibliographic review, focused on the conceptualization of modular architecture, the use of containers in civil construction and the characteristics of social housing. Three descriptive case studies were also analyzed, selected for their relevance in the practical application of these construction systems. In addition to theoretical research, the work presents an applied character, concretized in the development of a preliminary design for a popular house using container modules. The result is a proposal that respects technical and social restrictions, demonstrating the prediction of modular architecture as an efficient and affordable alternative for social housing
